Our extraordinary world

Moi and Elle have been traveling our extraordinary world together since 2009. What began as the occasional holiday escapade soon turned into full-fledged wanderlust. Predictably, the desire to one day pursue long-term travel was soon dancing around their heads. One day, a decision was made and a deadline set up. All superfluous material belongings would be sold, given away or thrown in the trash. One 40 liter backpack each would have to be enough to store all essential possessions.

Preparations were set in motion, friends were informed, employers were given notice. A striking realization dawned: all previous journeys had been rehearsals for departure. Acknowledging the power of narrative, an attempt was made to put into words a few traveling experiences. This is an account of some highlights from previous trips, now transformed into a document of life on the road and all it entails: the colors, the people, the landscapes, the unexpected and the serendipitous…

The journey began in New York. After a brief stint in Canada, we embarked on a wild road trip across the American West, visiting mad cities in the desert and stunning National Parks, until we headed South, feeling the breath of the Pacific Ocean. Finally, we arrived in Mexico, our first stop on a voyage into the heart of the Americas.

Our main goal is to eventually reach Tierra del Fuego, collecting stories, faces and places along the way. We’d also like to wander around aimlessly and eat lots of guava. It’s the small things in life…
